October Boudoir Prive : Review

Hi all, I came back from the Millenium Stadium yesterday (which was fricking awesome!) to a while you were out card. I had a feeling it would be my beautiful pink box so dragged Spencer straight to the sorting office!

My box...

The contents...

Skincare - Ceteum Illuminating Mask & Crème de Lite
Boudoir Prive say : Listed as one of the top 100 beauty brands by Harper's Bazaar, Cetuem is a breakthrough in skincare. These products will help you maintain a youthful complexion whilst brightening the skin and eliminating uneven skin tones.

I say : I'm looking forward to trying these out. The Crème de Lite feels lovely and moisturising on my hand so I think it will be nice on the face. The mask is an exfoliating one which again felt lovely on the hand. I think these will both be lovely treats.

The price : Crème De Lite £45 for 50ml, we received 5ml which is roughly £4.50
Illuminating Mask £25 for 50g, we received 5ml which is roughly £2.50

Bodycare - Korres Quince Body Butter
Boudoir Prive say : An extremely rich and soothing cream for dry and chapped skin. The combination of vegetable oils has excellent compatibility with the skin, allowing for easy absorption. It provides uplifting and long lasting moisture.

I say : The smell of this body butter is really nice, it isn't too overpowering and it absorbs into the skin quickly.

The price : £12.50 for 150ml, we received 50ml which is roughly £4.17

Haircare - Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme
Boudoir Prive say : Huile de Palme is a pre-shampoo conditioner that will soften and nourish dry and damaged hair. From a range of hair care products that use only natural ingredients, delicate aromas and plant extracts.

I say : I've never heard of pre-shampoo conditioner before so am quite excited to try this, that is if I can get it out of the bottle! The oil seems to have congealed and gone quite clumpy and it doesn't want to budge! Not really sure what to do with it! It smells nice though!

The price : £24 for 95ml, we received 25ml which is roughly £6.32

Fragrance - Memo Paris Les Echappees (Sundance)
Boudoir Prive say : Memo is a new Paris-based niche line of fragrances created by Clara Molloy. The samples are a mix of three ranges; Les Echappees, Les Orientaux and Voyages Naturels. Memo invites us on a sensory journey and aims to evoke ideas of dream and travel.

I say : I received Les Echappees which is described as A spicy tuberose underlined by pear. This perfume sample is a little better than the rest that I have received in beauty boxes because it has a pump. Its also better because I really, really like it! I don't think I'll ever be buying it due to the price tag but I will enjoy this little sample!

The price : £69 for 30ml / £105 for 75ml. I'm not sure of the size of the sample that I received.

Lifestyle - Rose & Co Rose Petal Salve

Boudoir Prive say : This rose scented salve soothes chapped lips and dry skin. It can also be worn as a glossy top coat over lipstick, an eye gloss, on brow bones or mixed with a shimmer powder to give a glamorous glow.

I say : How cute is this?! The packaging is just gorgeous. As you can see it is a pinky colour in the tin but goes on clear. The rose smell is actually quite powerful, if you don't like rose scent avoid this! I like it, it kind of tastes like Parma Voilets when wearing it on my lips! It feels really nice on my dry lips.

The price : £5 for 20g, we received a full size pot

Makeup - Studiomakeup Liner Styler Pen Black
Boudoir Prive say : For intense eye definition this deep black Liner Styler Pen glides on for a long lasting and crease-proof line. The slim and soft tip provides precision in a single stroke.

I say : I'm not won over by this to be honest. Roughly 5 minutes after the swatch photo was taken I rubbed it to test if it had dried, it smudged really badly! I then rubbed again after a further 2 minutes, it almost all rubbed off! It takes a very long time to dry! It does glide on nicely though.

The price : £12 for 1.1ml, we received a full size pen.

We also received a leaflet that entitles us to a skin consultation and relaxing mini facial with RMK in Selfridges. There are also goody bags while stocks last. This can be redeemed 3rd - 7th November. Unfortunately this is no good to me as we don't have a Selfridges in Wales! If anyone would like this let me know, if there are a few of you I will use random org to decide who to give it to.

Overall verdict
  • I love the majority of the contents in this month's box, we received two full size products and the total box contents come to roughly £35 not included the perfume sample.
  • I am a little annoyed to see that new subscribers received two extra samples in this box, they were samples that we received last month but that isn't the point. I have been a subscriber from the start and have received no benefit. People who subscribed to the second box got it for £5 and people who have subscribed for this box got two free products. I feel as though as loyal subscribers aren't being rewarded.
  • Despite feeling a little annoyed with Boudoir Prive I will be continuing my subscription because I do feel that their boxes are improving month on month.
Did you receive this box? Did you like it? Are you a subscriber from the start who feels a little neglected?

  1. Thanks Veronica :) I look forward to receiving next month's box x

  2. Hi Leanne! Thank you for your blog post. We are glad that overrall you really liked the October Beauty Box and look forward to your post next month!

  3. It really was, very pleased with it x

  4. The salve is gorgeous isn't it!
I remember you saying that you lived by the sorting office and did keep an eye out in case I saw you! x

  5. Thanks for your help Natasha, I will give this a go when I get around to using it.
I haven't tried the mask yet but am looking forward to treating myself to it when I find time/drag myself away from the computer! xx

  6. Thanks Lauren, I guess the crystallising is a plus when you look at it that way! x

  7. Hi Helen, I have since found out that the conditioner crystallises when its cold, if you put it in a bowl of warm water it should turn liquid again.
I haven't tried my face mask yet, am looking forward to giving it a go though.

  8. Thanks for your comment and advice on the conditioner Natasha :)
I will use the lip salve so am happy with that, the only thing that may not get used with me is the eyeliner so I'm pleased.
It is quite annoying that they seem to be rewarding new customers and not loyal customers, getting as bad as Sky haha xx

  9. This looks like a great box this month! :)

    Lucy x

  10. o wow, all the product looks interesting (:
    great review!

    CMPang x

  11. I received the same products as you and I absolutely love the Rose Petal Salve and the StudioMakeUp Liner Styler pen! I ordered 2 boxes so I could give my Mum one to cheer her up and she loved the box too :) You and Spencer were right near my house when you picked your box up - you should have popped in for a cup of tea!! x

  12. Apparently when the Leonor Grey Pre-shampoo conditioner gets cool/cold it solidifies so you have to warm it up a bit too loosen it up to liquid form! You can do this by holding the bottle in your hands for a while (cough cough! Lol) or put the bottle in some warm water and it quickly turns into liquid and then when it gets cool it solidifies again! So apparently it's natural for that product to do that! TBH shame it wasn't in a little tub so you could just scoop some out and warm it in your hands (Like the Ojon one is like! That comes in a tub and also has a little scoop one end and comb the other!) Hope that helps?

Ooooohhh I can't wait to try the face mask! I was going to try it tonight but decided i'm not going out tonight so maybe I will try it tomorrow so I have lovely looking skin on Monday! Lol! How long did you leave it on for Helen (was it the full 15 mins and how much of the tube did you use?)

  13. Put the hair oil treatment into a glass of warm/hot water and it melts back to a liquid. Mine solidified again within an hour or so but avoids spillages I suppose!

  14. I've just tried out the face mask, it's a little thin for a face mask... but my skin feels and looks lovely now!
I'm not sure about the pre-shampoo conditioner either. Mines congealed as well, I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or what...

  15. Love your comments on the box they were great and it's made me sign up to your blog! They are very honest!

BTW the hair treatment seems a bit like Ojon (which i have used since it first came t the UK a few years back) and it is brilliant! So this will have a lot to live up to! Lol! Also to make it turn into liquid in the bottle hold it in your hands for a little while or put the bottle into some water and it will liquify!

TBH i'm not that impressed by this months box as I don't use liquid eyeliners and defo wouldn't use black and don't use lip salves either I use lipgloss or lip treatments with a wand or brush (but that isn't BP's fault I suppose! Lol)

I like a lot of the items in the box but unfortunately they are all the samples (but good sizes I must admit)

I am peeved also about others that signed up after us (I got the first box so know how hard we all worked to get that first box and we had to get people to sign up so that we got that first box and were all in anticipation for weeks after the cut off date to see whether we had got enough people to sign up so that we did get the first box!) have been given the joy of a half price box and others have got 2 free items! Which to me seems a bit like a slap in the face! Yeah we got the first box but we had to pay for it (the full price) we didn't get it for free or get it for half price! So I fully understand why you and some others (who were on their site months before it went live and were waiting in eager anticipation because a lot of us had signed up and got at least 1 or more Glossy boxes and wanted to see if this was as good if not better than GlossyBox) are a bit miffed we havn't received any thank you or freebies for getting sooooooo many people to sign up to BP!

Sorry to write sooooo much I can talk for England! Lol
Keep up the great work with your blogging

    Natasha xxx
