Blogger Xmas Party with My Street Chic and Boohoo

Sorry that it has taken me so long to write this post!! I attended the Bristol Xmas meet up on 16 December and am only now posting about it, bad blogger.

I met Gemma in Newport and travelled to Bristol with her, we then met Vicky and Lyzi at the train station. We headed to Nandos where we met Bee and Sammy and had some much needed grub and a good chin wag. A few of the girls joined us in Nandos but we had finished our food by this point so headed to the hotel, where I was sharing with Gemma and Vicky. We had some pre-drinks and got ready for the night ahead.

The event was held at Java Hotel, we were given a goody bag on arrival and free cocktails :) I stupidly didn't take any photos so have taken these from the MyStreetChic facebook page.

After mingling and sipping on free cocktails we went into the disco room for the catwalk show which showcased Boohoo's partywear. There were some gorgeous items but unfortunately nothing that I would feel confident enough to wear.

After the catwalk there was one part of the event that I really didn't agree with. Various outfit shots of 'real women' were shown on the screen and we had to hold up a 'noooo' or 'wooo' card. I didn't really agree with publicly 'nooo-ing' people, it made me feel quite uncomfortable.

That aside I thoroughly enjoyed every other aspect of the event. I met some amazing people whose blogs I have been reading from the start and some lovely people that I regularly speak to on Twitter.

Now what you have all been waiting for...what did I get in my goody bag...

Massive thanks to MyStreetChic, Boohoo, Bee and Lyzi for organising this amazing event. I look forward to the next hint, hint!

  1. I really like your dress! Black looks chic on you, on me I just look ill and like I need a good night's sleep haha :') X

  2. Looks like a great time! I'm hoping to get to more blogger meet ups in the new year : )

  3. Looks like an amazing event! You all looked lovely xxx

  4. Thanks for the blog Leanne, we're really glad you enjoyed the event!

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the street style game. It was meant in good fun and we made it clear that everyone was voting for the outfit, not the person. In fact, we didn't get too many noos at all - people were generally really supportive of their fellow bloggers.

It was really important to us to try and communicate the 'real people' element of the site - it's not all about models, it's about celebrating what you're all wearing out there in the real world! If you have any ideas for more positive ways that we can do this in future, please do drop me an email as we love hearing your ideas and we're always trying to adapt what we do to ensure people continue to enjoy it!
