I recently picked up a sample of the new Estee Lauder Maximum Wear Foundation from House of Fraser. The service I received in House of Fraser was excellent. I asked to be colour matched and was actually offered a sample, that doesn't happen often enough. I'll definitely be going back.
I was matched to Very Light. This colour is an excellent match for me, but a little paler than what I would normally go for. This is the only flaw that I personally have with this foundation, the lack of shades.
The foundation has a very thick consistency and dries quickly. A little bit goes a very long way, just make sure you buff like crazy and blend it in quickly.
Ewww, sorry about my gross skin! I wanted to show you just how good this foundation really is. The photo on the left is my horrid bare face. The photo on right is after just one pea sized blob of Maximum Wear blended in with my Sigma F80. As you can see the coverage is absolutely amazing. Bye bye red spots and scars :)
No other make-up applied in this photo, just the foundation.
These two photos were taken after a shopping trip and a meal, roughly five hours after application. As you can see my skin is still looking quite flawless. I've previously worn this all day and have had no need for top ups.
This foundation will not be for everyone. I have heard that staff at Estee Lauder counters quite often refuse to sell it to people if they are too young / their skin isn't bad enough. I had no problem buying it, the SA obviously saw my awful skin haha!
This will not provide a natural look, it provides a clearly 'made up' look. I personally like this look but know that a lot of people won't.
The sales assistant did say that it is very important to use an oil free moisturiser before applying this. I always use an oil free moisturiser as my skin gets very oily. My skin does still get oily when wearing this foundation but doesn't get as oily as with other foundations that I have tried.
I will definitely be re-purchasing this foundation. It is a little pricey at £26.50 but my skin has never looked so flawless. I wouldn't be using this for day to day wear as I can imagine that it probably isn't too good for your skin, I'll be saving this for evenings out on the town and special occasions.
If you are looking to buy this foundation then I strongly suggest getting colour matched and getting a sample first, as I said House of Fraser were more than happy to hand over the sample. It will probably be a while before I purchase this as the sample is going to last ages, not complaining!
Have you tried this foundation yet? Do you have any recommendations for foundations with this much coverage?
