Review : March GlossyBox - The Harrods Edition

Saturday saw the arrival of the much anticipated limited edition Harrods GlossyBox. I was actually going to cancel my subscription but completely forget about it until I had an email to say that my box was being dispatched. Whoops.

The products...
Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau De Parfum 1ml value approx £0.72

GlossyBox say : For her is Narciso Rodriguez's first fragrance. A tribute to women's grace and power of inspiration.

I say : I don't mind receiving this type of perfume sample as it comes with a spray top, as a result I don't spill it everywhere. I like this perfume and will definitely be using it.

GlossyBox say : Vitamin-rich fruit extracts boost the skin and invigorate the senses.

I say : This is possibly the product that excited me the most when I opened the box as the description suggests that it will smell amazing. The scent didn't wow me as much as I thought I would but there is no denying that it does smell beautiful. I will use this.

GlossyBox say : A powerful serum enriched with 3 glycans to help increase youthful activity in skin cells (In Vitro Test).
Use one drop day and evening on cleansed skin, prior to applying your daily moisturiser.

I say : Despite this being quite a small sample the fact that you only need to use one drop twice a day should mean that it will last a while. It seems very good, I applied a drop to my hand and the skin where it was applied feels so soft! I'm all for trying anti-ageing products as I am getting old so will be using this.

GlossyBox say : This soft satin lipstick offers intense moisture and luminous long-lasting colour for fuller lips.

I say : For me this was the stand out item in the box. Despite it being a sample the packaging is absolutely amazing, simply a mini version of the normal size lipstick. This is how I feel all luxury samples should be presented. The lipstick I received is a lovely colour and feels very moisturising on the lips. Another product that will be used.

Clarins Extra-Firming Body Cream 30ml value approx £5.93 (link provided for Boots as I randomly can't find any Clarins products on the Harrods site!)

GlossyBox say : A formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which immediately helps to lift and tone, for firmer skin and a younger looking body.

I say : Another moisturiser. I have so many mini moisturisers about now its ridiculous. I've never tried Clarins so may be more enthusiastic about it when I have as I do know a lot of people say that you can tell how luxurious it is when you use it. Maybe it will sway me. I'm not too keen on the smell of it but the area that I tested this was left feeling smooth. I will use this at some point.

Overall verdict :

  • My rough estimate of the total box price is £24.50. I'll be honest, I did expect the Harrods box to have a higher value than that, this aside it is still worth over double what I paid for it.
  • No full size items this month, but all samples were nicely presented and I didn't sign up for this to receive full size items, I signed up for nicely presented samples.
  • Despite the fact that I will use all the contents of this box it just didn't wow me. My initial reaction was 'meh'. I'm not really sure why but I just wasn't overally excited by it, I'm thinking that this box may have been ruined for me due to the fact that there were so many spoilers around following the Ambassador party for this box.
I have un-subbed from GlossyBox now, I think that the other beauty boxes on the market are more suited to me. It is a shame that I have cancelled as I have been a subscriber of GlossyBox from when they first launched, I've always felt loyal to them because of this. That aside I can't afford to be spending £12.95 a month on something that I don't necessarily enjoy. I'm sure I'll give into temptation and order a one off box here and there!

You can subscribe to GlossyBox here for £10 + £2.95 P&P each month.

*Disclaimer : If you purchase a GlossyBox by clicking through on the link that I have provided I will be rewarded with GlossyDots, which will go towards a free box for myself.*

  1. Looks like a very decent box if not amazing. Haven't had chance to open mine yet as I'm staying with my fiancé and it was delivered to my parents house. Hoping I have the lipstick, shower-gel or mascara though.

Had a look on facebook and alot of people seemed to be peeved because they didn't get the lipstick/Harrods don't sell Clarins. I have to admit all the spoiler posts made me a bit meh about it all so I think I'll stick with Carmine and Amarya :)

So much beauty box negativity on facebook this month! xx

    1. It is a great box but for some reason it just didn't wow me. I think it was because of all the spoilers, its not quite as exciting when you've already seen the products that you receive!
I'm definitely looking forward to my Carmine box, very impressed with them so far x

    1. I think sometimes the hype does lead to disappointment with GlossyBox, if they didn't hype it up so much it would be a lot more exciting! x
