Review : June GlossyBox

This morning saw the arrival of the current most talked about subject in the blogging world, my June GlossyBox. I'm not going to go too much into the subject but I must say, I update my firms Twitter and would have been marched out of the door if I had said some of the things that GB's PR people have.

I un-subscribed from GlossyBox a while ago as I simply preferred some of the other monthly subscription boxes that were available. I had earned enough GlossyDots to claim a free box and having seen reviews I decided to try my luck and order a box to see if I could bag myself some HD Brows Precision Tweezers.

I received...
It was worth the risk, I got the tweezers!

GlossyBox Serie Exclusive Pro Beauty Brush £15

GlossyBox say : This classic series natural goat hair blush brush gives a super soft make-up application.

I say : I have to agree with what most people have said about this. I would have expected this to be an extra item and not one of the five luxury products and I really don't think it is worth the £15 price tag. That aside it feels quite nice and I will use it. It does have a strange smell at the moment which I'm hoping will fade when I wash it.

BM Beauty Summer Warmth Bronzer 1g value approx £2

GlossyBox say : Multi-purpose pure-mineral bronzer. Add a touch of summer warmth to your face.

I say : This seems like a lovely product, unfortunately due to being so pale I'm not a fan of bronzers, they just make me look orange! My sister loves her fake tan and bronzer though so I'll put this to the side to give to her along with a few other bits at Christmas.

GlossyBox say : Award Winning UVA & UVB protection organic sun lotion. Rich in natural antioxidants, moisturising protection.

I say : I was originally going to complain that I didn't class this as a luxury beauty product, then I checked GB's website and saw that they've changed their box description to five product miniatures. I will use this (if we ever see sun) but don't think that it is a very exciting product to receive in a beauty box. It does tie in nicely with the Summer theme of the box.

VICHY Dermablend Ultra-Corrective Foundation Cream Trial Kit £4.99

GlossyBox say : VICHY's expert camouflage foundation stick for minor to severe skin flaws.

I say : This looks very similar to the Keromask Camouflage trial kit that I reviewed previously. I do have quite high hopes with this product and am pleased that GB provided us with a trial kit which should mean that everyone who received this will at least be able to blend a colour that suits them if none of the standard colours are suitable.

GlossyBox say : For eyebrow maintenance at home or on the go, HD Brows Precision Tweezers are a must for every girl's make-up bag.

I say : I was so pleased to see these in my box, seeing as they were the reason I decided to order a box! In my view these make an otherwise average box an outstanding box. I've only ever used cheap tweezers previously and have wondered if buying an expensive pair would be worth it. I look forward to putting these to the test.

Approximate box value £46.94, although I do feel that the brush price has been over-valued.

You can subscribe to GlossyBox here for £12.95 per month including P&P.

  1. I've never signed up to a box because it adds up to a lot over a year and I'm too fussy when it comes to products. The tweezers look fab, I want to try tweezerman ones x

    1. It does end up costing a lot, I can't resist my monthly box of treats though!
I've been wanting a Tweezerman pair for ages which is why I so badly wanted these, I'm so pleased with them x

  2. I think the smell is because it's made of goats hair, which do smell quite strange :) x

    1. I did wonder if its the goats hair, strange smelling things lol x

  3. Seriously jealous you got the tweezers :) I used to work for Glossybox, it's very sad to see all the recent trouble they seem to be having, you get a very different impression of them 'from the inside' xx

    1. I am so, so chuffed that I got them, couldn't believe my luck!
It is so sad to hear the negativity surrounding them, I really hope that they can pick up from this and improve their customer relations. It would be such a shame to see them suffer x
