A Drastic Haircut - My Donation to Charity

I started growing my hair for my Wedding and it went crazy, I couldn't believe how fast it grew! I made the decision a while back to just carry on growing it so that I could have a drastic cut and donate my hair to charity. Yesterday I did it.

I chose to donate to Little Princess Trust. Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through Cancer treatment. This is the same charity that Jessie J donated her hair to when she famously had it all shaved off. I wasn't quite brave enough to do a Jessie!

To donate your hair you need a minimum of seven inches, mine came in at around 10 and a half.

I decided to have the ombre put back in, I just used the L'Oreal kit in the darkest shade, number 1 I think. I'm not going to comment on the kit too much as the girl who cut my hair also applied the die. The colour took really well and my hair doesn't feel dry after use. I'm not actually sure I like the ombre effect on my new shorter hair but its too late now, it is staying for a while yet! I'm not brave enough to die over freshly bleached hair plus any hair die that I put on will probably fade with this underneath. I'll just have to get used to it.

Colour aside I'm really happy with my new, light, bouncy hair. It feels so strange and brushing it is a real pleasure now.

Will I keep it this length is a question that I have been asked so many times today. The answer is, I'm not sure. I'll probably keep it this length for the Winter but after that I may just grow it again and then donate more hair. Who knows.

You can read more about Little Princess Trust and arrange to make a donation (financial or hair) here.

  7. I'd love to do something like this, such a good cause!
Your new hair looks lovely, i actually love the ombre on the short hair. If you really don't like it i'm sure it'd be fine to dye straight over it but honestly it looks lovely :)
