Hen Party Planning On A Budget

I recently organised a Hen night for one of my best friend's. As pretty much everyone was on a super tight budget it was agreed that we wouldn't do anything too expensive, we booked into a hotel in Swansea and planned to have a night out. I wanted to make a real effort as we weren't really doing a lot. With a budget of £80 to spend on nine people it was tough, but I managed to get decorations, personalised t-shirts for the entire party, goody bags for the entire party and loads more without going too much over budget.

personalised pre filled black & pink hen party goody bags with umbrella straw

I organised another of my friend's hen parties two years ago, that time I made everyone a hen survival kit, they were fab but worked out to be quite expensive. I wanted to do something similar this year but without spending quite as much on them. After a little bit of research on cheap hen party goody bags I stumbled across these personalised pre-filled hen party goody bags, at £2.95 per bag I don't think that I could have made anything like them cheaper myself. I could pick eight items from a very long list to fill the bags, I chose party feet, a mini survival kit (neon plaster, hair bobble & mint) umbrella straw, willy straw, popping candy, mini nail file, candy necklace and pink crystal body stickers. The bags were top quality, they came with tissue paper and the paper pink polka dot bag as pictured. Everyone loved them and got stuck into them straight away.

personalised photo upload hen party badges

You may have noticed the badges in the first picture, these have become a little hen tradition so they were a must. These cost me just 99p each which was great as I could upload a photo and completely personalise the text, everyone had the same badge but each one was personalised with our names, or, in the hen's case, Bride To Be.
hen party shot glass and straw drinking glasses

As well as goody bags we had to buy the usual hen 'tat' that we all love! The shot glass & whistle and novelty drinking glasses came from Poundland and cost, you guessed it, £1 each!

champagne l plates bride to be sash willy veil and inflatable willy-hen night essentials

Badges aren't the only hen party tradition for us lot on hen parties, inflatable willies are too. Basically I was made to carry one on my hen and now seek revenge on every other hen that I attend! A hen can't be expected to go out without L Plates, a Bride to Be sash and a veil. I love this veil as from a distance it looks really cute, then up close you realise there are little willies on it!

pack of 10 pink plastic champagne flutes with tesco cava

As we were going to be spending quite a lot of time in the hotel room I wanted to glam it up a bit, on a limited budget that isn't easy but I don't think I did too badly with the help of Tesco Cava and pink plastic champagne flutes

I also bought this cute little bride wine glass charm for the bride to be, I had the champagne flutes so thought this was a cute little addition, plus it only cost 99p!

beam me up star trek themed hen party t-shirts

Personalised t-shirts can be a massive expense on a hen party, costing around £10 - £15 per person. This is why DIY is the only option on a budget. You can download so many fonts from Da Font, just playing around with a few different fonts and colours can give you a lovely t-shirt design. Everyone bought their own t-shirt from Primark, mine cost £1.80, I then bought t-shirt transfer paper, printed the designs onto this and ironed them on. These t-shirts cost me around £2 each, such a big saving!

personalised fake tattoo for hen party

I thought this personalised fake tattoo was quite cool, you could even go down the route of getting one for each member of the party as they are completely personalised, but we were on a budget so I just bought one for our Hen.

photo booth props and champagne gold glitter frame prop with glasses

Hotel room entertainment came in the form of booze, a few games, photo props and a selfie stick, what more could a group of girls ask for? The frame prop came from Tiger and the smaller props from eBay for just 99p

hen party decorations-personalised hen party decorations and photo booth back drop

I also decorated the room to make it look nice, concentrating on a area with no furniture so that we could use it as a photo back drop. I love this personalised bunting and at £4.99 I felt that it was a complete bargain. The two paper decorations on the left came from Tiger and the paper garland from eBay.

We also played a few games, nothing fancy just the usual Mr & Mrs, a photo scavenger hunt and who am I. Sticking with the Star Trek theme the bride put the Star Trekking song as her ring tone, every time her phone rang she had to do the dance, needless to say we had a lot of time ringing her, especially while we were eating breakfast and waiting for the train!
