Aria's Ten Month Update

My little baby turned ten months on Boxing Day, her first birthday is going to be here before we know it. These past ten months have gone by in such a blur, yet they have been the best ten months ever! Granted, there have been ups and downs, but they have been pretty awesome overall.

baby with today I am 10 months old milestone card

As you can probably guess by the photo Aria has had chicken pox. She was really good with them, they didn't seem to bother her too much but we could see her getting annoyed and hitting them now and again. We found a combination of Calpol and Virasoothe worked best.

Aria hasn't been weighed this month, when I last took her for weigh in the health visitor told me that taking her every month is "a waste of time", I did like to take her each month but am now put off taking her. She is definitely growing as I have had to get rid of a lot of trousers as they are now too short, I think she had a bit of a growth spurt last month.

Her 6-9 month clothing now fits her very well, I don't think it will be long before we go into 9-12 month. I have been picking up some 9-12 month clothing in the sales so have some ready, which is a relief as going out and buying a whole new wardrobe in the next size up can work out expensive.

Despite often showing all of the symptoms of teething Aria still has no teeth. I joked around and sang the song All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth, but still, nothing.

We have started giving Aria gripe water with her bedtime bottle and this does seem to be working for her, she now sleeps through the night the majority of the time. We do have the odd night where she will wake up screaming but not as often as last month. I have now discovered that when this happens if I read her a book she tends to settle and go back off to sleep quite quickly. The screaming tends to happen on days when Aria hasn't had a poo, we are now putting Colief in her last bottle on these days and so far *touches wood* we've not had any problems, we only bought the Colief a week ago so we may not have solved the problem yet.

Aria still isn't crawling but she is a lot more active. She is now quickly shuffling around on her play mat (usually backwards) and able to turn around when sat up, she is also rolling over in her cot a lot more than before. Changing her is becoming a nightmare because she likes to kick my belly in order to move all the way up to the back of the table, as soon as I pull her forward she goes back again.

She is a lot more vocal and makes some very amusing sounds, most of which make no sense at all but are very cute. She now loves to clap hands and high five. Her current favourite toys are the Fisher Price Cookie Jar and Fisher Price Smart Stages Purse.

  3. Aww, I'm glad she didn't suffer too much with the chicken pox. It sounds like she'll be properly on the move soon too - I loved this age with Toby, they're so much fun!

  4. How did I miss her having chicken pox!? Poor thing! I'm glad she didn't suffer *too* much! I remember that cookie jar... ours must be about somewhere! Good tip with the colief/gripe water!
