My New Year Wishes - 2016

I don't tend to make new year's resolutions, if I want to make a change I make it as and when I decide that I want to make it, if I started 'saving' these changes up so that I could start them in the new year I'd either forget about them or just decide that I no longer want to do them. Instead, I make wishes for the year ahead, things that I really hope happen.

Work - I started working at Marks & Spencer just before Christmas, it is only a temporary contract which finishes on the 23 January. I am really enjoying the job, the work and the hours really suit me and it is a fantastic place to work, I really hope that when my contract ends they decide to keep me on permanently.

House - We put our house on the market in 2015, we accepted an offer on it within a week of it going on the market, our buyers pulled out a few weeks down the line and we've had no viewings let alone offers since. This has worked out quite well because the house that we wanted to buy sold to someone else the day that we accepted the offer on our house and we haven't seen any other houses that we like yet. Hopefully now that Christmas is over and the new year has begun we will have some more interest in our house, and fall in love with another house.

Blog - I worked hard on my blog in 2015, I eventually bought my own domain, I took a photography course, I created a facebook page and just generally put more effort into it. The plans for 2016 are to continue to improve both my blog and my photography. I found myself getting quite stressed out with posts that had to be up on certain days/by certain times last year so this year I am going to be more relaxed. I am probably going to stop the #WhatMyBabyWore linky altogether as a lot of effort went into it for not a lot of results, apologies to those who regularly joined in. I am also going to start getting more picky about the products that I accept to review on my blog which will mean that I can put a lot more time and effort into the products that I do accept.

Finances - We saw ourselves struggling financially quite a few times towards the end of 2015, a year of maternity pay followed by the drop in wages by taking a part time job has really taken it's toll. This year I am hoping that I can make a little bit more money from blogging which will be my treat money. I really need to cut down on what I buy, Aria has a ridiculous amount of clothing and toys that really isn't necessary. I'm not going to resolve to stop buying things because I know that I can't resist, I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that I will earn a bit more 'pocket money' from my blog so that those non-essential purchases can be made with that.

Family - In 2015 our little family increased by one and we couldn't be happier. Aria really has brightened up our lives. Watching her grow is incredible and I hope that 2016 brings her and us plenty of joy.

Acne - At the grand old age of 30 I am finally hoping to sort my acne out. I've put up with it for long enough and it doesn't seem to be going by itself. I started taking a drug called Isotretinoin in December. It has some serious side affects including mood swings, depression and painfully dry skin but hopefully it will be worth it. The course lasts for six months, hopefully come May I will finally be acne free! For those wondering if baby number two is on the horizon in 2016 Isotetinoin can cause serious birth defects, so much so that I have to take a pregnancy test at the hospital once a month before they will give me a repeat prescription, so, no baby number two for a while yet.

Weight - I started my weight loss journey back in July and have lost 1 stone 8lbs. I've had a lot of ups and downs on my journey but have still lost an average of 1lb per week. If I continue with this average I could be at my target come the end of 2016. That is a very exciting thought, although I'm sure that when I get to target I'll probably want to lower it!

Have you made any resolutions or do you have any wishes for the coming year? If so, what?

  1. I love the idea of wishes instead of resolutions and I hope all of your wishes come true lovely xx

  2. You have been busy! It's very inspiring that you went on a course, found work (any tips on this please help a girl out) and of course being a super mum! Hope you have a very happy 2016

  3. I don't make resolutions either. This year I have made goals for the next 5 years. Well done on the weight loss!!

  4. I love your wishes for 2016! It'd be great if M&S kept you on - sounds like it's a perfect work/life balance. Finances is something I need to sort out this year. All the best for 2016!

  5. Lovely goals for 2016 - good luck with the house, I'm sure now Christmas is out of the way, it will pick up!

  6. This is a lovely post! I hope all your wishes come true :)
