Blogging Income & Stats April 2016

I've seen several income reports flying around in the blogging world and I find them very inspiring. They always seem to be published by big bloggers who make a pretty big income from their blog, I have always thought that it would be nice to see them from an average blogger, a blogger like me, which is why I have decided to start publishing my own on a monthly basis.

April was a bad month income wise, I went on holiday for five days and planned to blog while there but the poor wifi connection meant that I didn't get any blogging done for those five days, this didn't help what was already shaping up to be a bad month. Thankfully I was still able to use 3G on my phone to promote my existing blog posts on social media and I had a giveaway running so my stats weren't affected too much.

During April my blog received 15,414 page views, 9,160 of which were from unique users. I finished the month with a domain authority of 27, a Tots100 ranking of 209, Foodies100 ranking of 105 and a Snapchat score of 598. My followings on the 1st May were as follows :

Facebook : 475
Twitter : 2,375
Instagram : 1,728
Pinterest : 485
Google+ : 375
Bloglovin' : 850

As mentioned above it was a very quiet month income wise, I also splashed out on some new business cards which put a little dent in my income.

Sponsored post fees - £143.31
less
Business cards - £15.32

Total income : £127.99

Despite having a poor month income wise I did very well review wise, receiving around £1,370 worth of product.

Total income + review items : £1,497.99

Reviews were : Pao Papoose baby carrier, custom iPhone case, plastic bib, a week in Butlin's with breakfast and dinner included, Diana instant camera, jumper & puddlesuit and a meal at The Celtic Manor.

I'm hoping for a much better month next month, I'm due a payment from Google Adsense, I have outstanding sponsored post fees of £62 and am in talks with various companies for various projects.

My goals for the month are to hit 10,000 uniques, buckle down and promote my blog more and continue to grow my social media followings. This may be difficult as I had another holiday at the beginning of the month and I'm now training to be a photographer in work (!) which means working more hours and spending less time blogging.

Do you publish income reports? If so I would love to see them, feel free to link to them in the comments! What are you blogging goals for May?

  1. This is really inspiring.

I've been focusing on getting my DA up, but with a full time job and other commitments it's so hard to focus on getting the content amounts up like I used to.

Another thing that frustrates me, is the lack of comments on other blog posts - unless you are putting your link in a comment thread on Facebook. I'm guilty of this too and my interaction levels with others have really taken a dive - opting for more of a "silent reader" approach.

I think I need to change my mentality around blogging and hopefully others follow suit!
Finding my "thing" has helped with the cruelty free stance and going to an event recently where I've been gifted almost £300 worth of products has made me realise that I'm in a lucky position which I shouldn't take for granted - even if I am a tiny tadpole in a huge ocean! xx

    1. Thanks Charli, I'm glad I inspired you!

It is hard when you have so many other commitments, I find I'm jumping on my computer at nap times and in the evenings but then as a result my house is a tip and I never get a break!

You're right about the comments, people don't do it as much as they used to. I'm guilty of this because I struggle to find the time which is a real shame as I love engaging with other bloggers!

I'm glad you seem to have your mojo back!

  4. I've never made a penny from reviews! Should we be charging then? Xx

    1. I don't Leanne makes money from reviews as the product is payment, but Leanne was just sharing the value of the review items. It's sponsored posts that she charges for. I don't think any blogger charges for reviews as the product is payment xx

    2. Emily is right, those figures are just the estimate amount of what the review product was worth. Some bloggers do charge for product reviews, and I do if the product is of a small value and something that I wouldn't buy myself, unless it is a real treat and I really want it! The time and effort that goes into writing a blog post isn't really worth a product that costs, say £2 so I would ask for a payment then but would count it as a sponsored post fee.
