Blogging Income & Stats May 2016

My income and stats report last month proved to be very popular and so I have decided to carry on publishing this on a monthly basis. I had a better month in May than April, there were a few more sponsored posts and also two advertising commission payments.

During May my blog received 16,863 page views, 9,572 of which were from unique users. I finished the month with a domain authority of 26, a Tots100 ranking of 199, Foodies100 ranking of 105 and a Snapchat score of 862. My followings on the 1st June were as follows :

Facebook : 513
Twitter : 2,450
Instagram : 1,814
Pinterest : 538
Google+ : 384
Bloglovin' : 850

Sponsored post fees - £216.50
eBay affiliates commission - £47.61
Google Adsense commission - £62.60
less
Paypal fees - £1.39 (annoyingly I get charged when companies pay me via Paypal)

Total income : £325.32

On top of the income I received around £115 worth of products to promote/review.

Total income + review items : £440.32

Review items/products to promote were : Gousto Box, Vagisil, Wicked Uncle voucher, Popcorn (for social media promotion only) and a shaving brush set (for inclusion in a Father's Day gift guide).

I'm not really sure what to expect income wise next month, I don't have much in the pipeline at the moment which is always a bit worrying. I do have £265 of fees outstanding which will hopefully be paid out in June.

My five most popular posts published in May were :

Unfortunately I didn't hit my goal of 10,000 unique visits, though I did manage to increase it by just over 400. I have struggled a little on the blogging front due to working extra hours and the fact that Aria is teething and I'm getting a) a lot less spare time and b) a serious lack of sleep.

I'm not going to set any targets this month because Aria is still waking up during the evenings meaning I don't get much time blogging.

I have made the decision to stop accepting low paid sponsored posts for follow links and start giving my blog the respect that it deserves. As a result I am expecting a drop in my income for a little while, but I am hoping that it will eventually result in bigger and better opportunities. I'm receiving a regular income from my new job so (hopefully) can afford to be more selective about what I decide to promote.

What are your goals for the month ahead? What were your most popular posts in May?

  1. I love reading posts like this, y urgently amazon affiliate earnings are great, I hardly earn a thing! Do you use the links elsewhere other than your blog?

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Do you mean eBay affiliate earnings? I just had a lucky month there to be honest!

  2. Fab reading this! I don't accept low paid link inclusions anymore either, I just don't feel it is worth my very limited time! Just hoping that this decision will lead to bigger and better things (and I'm sure it will as you can devote more time for bigger fish) :)

    1. Thanks Sanna, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is it, I don't have much time to blog so would rather post things that I like than writing a quick post for £30 that may potentially put bigger and better brands off working with me and ruin my rankings in Google! It isn't worth the risk if you can afford not to do it.

    1. Thanks Lauren :)
This was a good month, with the Adsense I tend to get one payment a year which just happened to be this month lol so don't rely in on it too much!

  4. Well done! This is the first time I have come across your blog nd I love it. I write a similar post with my blog and follower stats each month and I love to pop back and look over to see how far I have come. I have only recently started to make money from my blog as I have had the time to put into it while on maternity leave. I made 85p through adsense last month! xx

  5. I find these posts really interesting! (I'm nosey) & in regards to Sponsored content my end, I find they are less frequent than they used to be! Which is a shame because when the content is relevant & I'm happy to collab, that extra income comes in handy!

I find sponsored posts like waiting for a bus, nothing for ages and then loads all at once!
