Family Fun In Blackpool*

*Written in collaboration with Voucherbox*

Back last year we decided to visit Blackpool in October for the Illuminations. I've only ever been to Blackpool once before and I instantly fell in love with the place, Spencer had never been and wasn't very keen on the idea of it but I was determined to change his mind! I challenge anyone to walk along Blackpool Promenade without smiling - I'm sure it is impossible!

We were only in Blackpool for one night and two days, but everything is so close together we were able to cram loads in to that short space of time. We stayed in Blackpool South Shore Travelodge as it was cheap and within easy walking distance to most attractions. If you are planning a trip to Blackpool and looking to save a bit of cash I recommend checking out Voucherbox who regularly have fab money off Air BnB vouchers and other well known sites.

Blackpool Beach & Piers
Blackpool Piers, collage showing arcades, north pier entrance, old fashioned seating along pier, coffee and rainbow cake
While you are getting your bearings it is well worth taking a stroll around the old fashioned piers. They are full of hidden gems, arcade games, fair rides and more. Of course while you're near the beach you should take a trip to the beach, tide permitting! You see all sorts while walking along the promenade, including horse drawn Cinderella style carriages.

Sea Life

If  your children enjoy aquariums, (and let's face it, who doesn't?) Sea Life is an absolute must while in Blackpool. There is so much to see and do and the displays are fantastic. Everything is super bright and colourful so it is a fab sensory experience for even the littlest of children.

Blackpool Tower

It  would have been rude to visit Blackpool and not climb (well, ride the lift actually but it doesn't sound as good!) the tower, wouldn't it? Both Aria and I braved the glass floor but Spencer held back, resulting in him playing photographer! I left Spencer and Aria behind and ventured up as high as I was allowed, which was very high. It was a fab experience, I felt quite wobbly and uneasy at times but I'm very glad that I braved it.

Blackpool Illuminations
Blackpool Illuminations
The illuminations really are fantastic. The whole town is lit up and everything looks wonderfully tacky yet oh so pretty. Literally everything (well pretty much) is lit up, the trams, the lamp posts, the buildings, they even display light shows on the tower. If you are planning a visit to Blackpool I highly recommend booking during the illuminations, usually September - November.
