Aria's Mad Hatter's Themed First Birthday Party

Aria turned one on Friday. We started the celebrations early with a Mad Hatter's Themed birthday party last Saturday. I picked this theme simply because it is pretty and anything goes. Despite only having half an hour to set up at the venue I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Coping With Tonsilitis & Sickness At 11 Months

Aria has been attending private nursery one day a week since she was eight months old. While sending them to nursery young has it's advantages it also comes with disadvantages, such as they pick up every single illness going. So far she has managed to pick up several coughs and colds, chicken pox, tonsilitis and a sickness bug! Having dealt with so many minor illnesses I've picked up a few 'essential items' along the way.

My Spring/Summer Wedding Guest WishLyst

Is it just me who likes to create virtual shopping baskets that they can't really justify or afford? We've had a few sunny days recently. The sunshine has got me excited, Wedding season is just around the corner and it is time to plan my Spring/Summer occasions outfit. Obviously the first step in planning is to create a virtual shopping basket on a luxurious website like Lyst.

9-12 Months Baby Girl Clothing Purchases January 2016

I love buying baby clothes, I rarely buy clothes for myself now, just Aria. I think it is because I know Aria's clothes will look good on her, where as what I think will look good on me usually doesn't! She has a ridiculous amount of her current size clothing, 6-9 months, so I've started buying 9-12 months in readiness. I splashed out on a few items from Marks & Spencer, Asda and Primark in January, they are all so gorgeous I just had to share.

Maternity Leave Realities

I couldn't wait to start maternity leave, nine months off work to relax and bond with my beautiful new baby. We would be off over Summer so would go for leisurely walks through the park, once we got to the park I would feed my baby with a beautiful, home made lunch, we would have a bit of fun and then take another leisurely stroll home. I would attend mother & baby groups and make loads of new friends, providing a really good support network. We would both be happy and in a fantastic routine. The reality was somewhat different. I now look at the above thoughts and laugh at myself.

Holiday Dreams - Cruising As A Family

I've always wanted to go on a cruise, I had grand plans of cruising the Caribbean for our honeymoon, unfortunately paying for a Wedding meant that we couldn't afford to book at that time. Almost four years on and I am still determined to go on a cruise. I like the idea of visiting far away destinations, but I don't necessarily like the idea of spending a great deal of time at these destinations, which is why this would be perfect for me, also, I wouldn't mind living in the lap of luxury for a week or two. Becoming parents hasn't changed this dream, a quick search shows me that cruise holidays can actually be very child friendly.

One Size Fits All Valentine's Gift Guide

Spencer and I don't tend to go crazy for Valentine's Day. Last year we didn't even buy anything but I missed having that little something, even if it is only little. This year I have decided to get a few bits and pieces, both home made and shop bought, so that Spencer has a little token gesture on Valentine's Day. Carry on reading for Valentine's Gifts suitable for anyone, from anyone.

Parenting : The Real Struggle

For me looking after a newborn baby was relatively easy, it didn't matter that I was tired because all I had to do was feed and change a baby, I did nothing else. It didn't matter that my house was a tip, that I hadn't washed and that I had been wearing the same pyjamas for three whole days running, I'd just had a baby, people didn't expect much more from me. Aria slept on me most of the time, I binge watched Netflix because I didn't have the energy or inclination to do much else.
